The company was incorporated February 27, 1969 and reorganized December 15, 1973 with Robert T. Holt as President and Chief Operating Officer. The name was legally changed from Erection Tools, Inc. to Mobile Lifts, Inc. on November 24, 1975.
Mobile Lifts, Inc. was originally organized by George A. Rogers as the eastern distributor of a small, manually propelled aerial scissors platform called Mite-E-Lift. In 1969 the company was designated an authorized distributor for Genie Industries, Ltd, Manufacturer of Genie Hoists, which continues to be one of its major lines. Since that time, many other lines have been added to its inventory.
In 1972, the company became an authorized distributor for Dur-A-Lift truck mounted aerial platforms which at that time were manufactured by Durnell Industries, Inc. at Emmetsburg, Iowa. Dur-A-Lifts are now manufactured by Dur-A-Lift, Inc. in George, Iowa and continues to be one of the major lines of Mobile Lift, Inc.
Mobile Lifts, Inc., was one of the first companies to introduce small and medium sized bucket trucks to the cable television industries where they have now become a standard and necessary item in construction and maintenance of cable.
The Recovery Division of the company, dealing in sales and service of wrecker and roll-back trucks, was established in 1988 under the leadership of Patrick J. Smith, Manager of the Recovery Division of the Company.
